When there’s so much to do but so little time, it can often feel like you’ve missed out on things during a weekend trip. Jenny Addo, also known as Jenny the Travel Guru knows a thing or two when it comes to making the most out of a short getaway and she’s shared this underrated piece of travel advice that travellers should follow to ensure they see everything they need to within a short time frame.

Tourists might usually opt to do this one thing whilst on a longer holiday but for many it probably isn’t top of the list during a weekend getaway, when perhaps it should be. Jenny, known for “travelling smarter” and sharing “tips to help you explore the world on a budget” on her Instagram page, shared with the Express the underrated activity that holidaymakers should take advantage of.

She told the Express: “For European weekend trips, I advise doing a ‘Guru Walk’. They are free walking tours you can sign up to and you get to experience a lot more of the city with an experienced tour guide for free.

“The Guru Walk should be the first thing on your itinerary, that way the tour basically tells you all the cool things about the place you’re in, you can make note of that, and come back to the things you want to visit in more detail. You’re then left with more room to relax, not having to stress too much about making a whole itinerary.”

Though travellers might plan activities ahead based on research or online recommendations. Jenny highlighted that letting “the locals tell you what’s good or not” is the way forward.

The travel guru has visited destinations across the globe from major hotspots to hidden gems. In the first two months of the year, Jenny had already explored seven destinations including, Egypt, Bahrain, Monaco, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, San Remo, and Nice.

She also explained that booking the earliest flight of the day will not only give you more time but also tend to be the cheapest flights. Pairing that with the latest flights back, you’ve given yourself as much time to squeeze everything in.

Getting those flights booked in as soon as possible is also just as important, highlighting that “the earlier you book your trips, the cheaper they will be.”
